Gastrointestinal Surgery
We are very experienced in the performance and surgical treatment of a variety of minimally invasive abdominal operations. These include:
The surgical treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux and hiatus hernia This involves the malfunction of the valve between the stomach and the esophagus. The operation is called a fundoplication and is done laparoscopically by creating a new valve. The surgery is very successful in over 90% of patients, eliminating the need for expensive medications.
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. The diseased gallbladder and gallstones are removed laparoscopically through three small incisions. The operation takes 45 minutes and 90% of patients go home on the same day.
Laparoscopic colon resection
This operation is now done very often for the removal of polyps, cancer and diverticulitis. Like other minimally invasive operations, there are significant advantages in terms of decreased length of stay and recovery from surgery.
Laparoscopic hernia repairs
Laparoscopic hernia repairs
are being done mainly to repair hernias resulting from previous surgery.
Laparoscopic abdominal tumors
Laparoscopic abdominal tumors are often treated. Especially tumors of the adrenal glands and the spleen may be removed by this approach. |
